Privacy
Privacy policy
The short version: these websites set no cookies and don’t track you across the web, and the Rollcaster app keeps your camera picture on your own computer. The details are below.
Effective October 1, 2026.
Who we are
“Rollcaster”, “we” and “us” mean the team that makes the Rollcaster app and runs rollcaster.net and downloads.rollcaster.net. For anything about your privacy, email admin@rollcaster.net.
Our websites
No cookies
rollcaster.net and downloads.rollcaster.net set no cookies and store nothing in your browser.
Visitor statistics
To understand how many people visit and which pages help them, we use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service. When a page loads, it records the page address (without anything after a ? or #), the address of the page that linked you here, and your browser’s general details: browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and an approximate country derived from your connection. On the downloads site it also records which file you chose to download. Umami does not use cookies and does not store your IP address. We see only totals, never a profile of you, and we don’t combine this with anything else.
If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” signal, nothing is recorded at all.
Hosting
The sites are served by Amazon Web Services (Amazon CloudFront). Like any web server, it has to receive your IP address to send you the page; we don’t keep request logs.
The Rollcaster app
Your camera
Rollcaster reads your dice on your own computer. The camera picture is never sent anywhere unless you choose to share it, as described below.
What the app connects to
- Our download site, to fetch and update the dice-reading models. These are ordinary file downloads; they carry nothing about you or your rolls.
- Our session relay, only when you create or join a shared session. Your display name, your rolls and (only if you tick Share photos and video clips of my rolls) a short clip of your tray pass through the relay, over an encrypted connection, to the other people in that session. The relay does not store them. It keeps anonymous counts for each finished session (how long it lasted, how many people took part and how many rolls were made) with no names, no roll results, no pictures and no IP addresses.
- Discord, only if you, or someone in your shared session, connects a Discord channel. Your rolls are posted there under your display name. Pictures of your dice go along only if you have turned picture sharing on, and only from your own computer: when another member of the session does the posting, your rolls go as text. What happens there is covered by Discord’s privacy policy.
- A webhook address you enter, only if you set one up. Each finished roll is sent there, and nowhere else.
The app has no advertising, and sends us no usage statistics.
Dice packs
A dice pack you export contains close-up photos of your dice (only the dice) and the name you gave the set. It goes wherever you send it. If you send us a pack to share on our dice pack list, we check it first and credit it to “Community Contributor” unless you ask us to use your name. With your permission we may also use the photos in a pack to improve Rollcaster’s dice reading.
If you email us
We use your message and email address to reply to you, and keep them for as long as we need to help you. Our email is provided by Google Workspace.
Children
Our websites and app are not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing admin@rollcaster.net. Everything the app keeps (your settings, dice sets and recorded rolls) stays on your computer, and uninstalling it and deleting its application data removes it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page, and announce anything significant on our news page.
