Rollcaster 0.4.5: pip dice, and sets that know their own dice
Rollcaster 0.4.5 is out for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Pip dice
Rollcaster now reads d6s with dots as well as numbers. Pip dice are new to it, so some will read better than others for now. The guide shows how to teach it yours.
Dice sets that know their own dice
A deep enrolled dice set now reads its own dice and stays quiet when someone rolls different ones, so a shared table reads more reliably. Deep enrolled a set before this version? Run Deep enroll all on it again. Deep enrolling also tells you how long it will take before it starts, and how far along it is while it runs. The guide has the details.
You can also switch a dice set on or off, keep training a set someone shared with you, and merge two copies of the same dice into one set.
Smaller things
- The setup tour keeps you on track: only the thing it's pointing at can be clicked, and its help links open your browser.
- In shared sessions your friends see your result sooner, and roll clips are now three seconds long.
- New Calibrate and Train icons in the title bar, and a smaller minimized die.
- Light mode is softer on the eyes.
- Training sessions stick to one kind of die, and ask before you save a roll of a different kind.
In case you missed 0.4.4
0.4.4 taught Rollcaster to update itself: it offers each new version when you start the app, or installs them automatically if you ask it to. It also finds your rig's camera on its own, lets the camera rest when the app sits unused, and adds close-ups of every player's dice to Discord posts in a shared session.
Get it
If you have 0.4.4, Rollcaster will offer this update the next time you start it. Otherwise, download Rollcaster 0.4.5 and install it over your current version: your settings and dice sets are kept.
